“Stop!"
We both whirled around to see April standing behind us.
“Kitchen. Now!” She pointed to the kitchen sink.

Trying to Trust Part 5

Riley's POV:

So what, we had to do dishes for two weeks. At least we weren't grounded. April thought we learned a lesson. We had. The more soup you use, the cleaner the dishes are.
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" Alex asked, nervously glancing around.

"Chillax. It's fine," I comforted. "Now we have start now or Peyton will be back soon."

We walked out of my room, Alex tiptoeing like a wannabee ninja. "There isn't anyone home. There is no need to center your inner ninja." I remarked. Alex returned to flat feet.

Alex's POV:

Riley thought she was the queen of the world. News flash; she wasn't. With out luck we'd get caught and grounded till we went to college. So why was I following her?

We entered Peyton's room. It looked like a normal room. Bed, baskets, nightstand.
"So what are we doing here?"

"We're looking for clues," She announced with a firm tone that meant I wasn't gonna win. She started walking towards the object sticking out from under the bed.

"For what?"
"To see if Peyton is a knight from the Venus. Do pay any attention to what I say? Or do you bird watch when I'm talking?" She answered harshly. "We need evidence to see what she's been up too."
Nodding, I walked over to search in the baskets. Riley leaned over to pick up a colorful notebook.

Sitting down on the bed, Riley opened to the first page and frowned. "What does it say?" I eagerly hopped from foot to foot.

"Trendy outside decorations are young?" A puzzled look crossed her face.
"Maybe she's redecorating the house?" I suggested.
"Or she's writing in code," Riley pointed to the paper.

"She wrote, 'Today'" Riley spelled it out for me. "The first letter of each word will make the word."
"Oh!" That move earned an eye roll. I wonder if her eyes ever get sore from rolling around in her head.

For the next 10 minutes we painstaking decoded her personal diary onto lined paper.
"Have we found our her secret yet?" I questioned. Riley gasped, her eyes widened, and she covered her mouth with her hands.

I sat in suspense, waiting for her to spring the secret. "Just kidding. I haven't found it yet.

Peyton's POV:

"So, I guess you found out." I said, sneaking up behind them.

Alex and Riley whirled around, their faces bright red.
"I guess I have to kill now."

I just had to end in suspense! You will never know what happens until I post Part 6. >:)

Alex's POV:

I stuck my head around the corner she was in her room. This would make things harder.
"What are we going to do?" I whispered, "Shes in her room."
"Leave it to me." Riley replied, completely calm.

(I'm sorry, no matter what I do, these pictures aren't showing up)

I followed Riley outside and under Peyton's window. "What next?" I asked.
"Well, if we throw rock's at Peyton's window and then run away, she'll come outside to see who is throwing rocks at the window. Meanwhile we sneak in through the back. Then we just lock her outside of the house." Riley smiled. All I could do was agree, it was an awesome plan.

We started pummling the window with rocks. Then I heard the front door creak open.
"Run!" I stage whispered.
We took off like a man on fire and I nearly collided with a garbage can.

I went through the back door, but tripped on the door jamb. I toppled to the ground with Riley on top of me. Instead of stopping to catch her breath, Riley jumped to her feet and ran to the front door. She slide the metal lock into place and looked at me, smirking.

"Let's go."

Riley's POV:

We entered Peyton's room. It looked like a normal room. Bed, dresser, little knick-knacks under the bed, a laptop.
I headed for the laptop, while Alex stated rooting through the baskets.

I opened the screen, but it didn't open to the home screen. Instead it said I needed a password. "Try my birthday," Alex suggested.
"How about you keep searching?" I told him.

Riley's POV:

The basement was the best place to store all the unwanted childhood items, the cringy photo albums and the dusty furniture. It also is a good place for meetings.
Surrounded by boxes and chairs, I looked at my watch for the umpteenth time. Why was he always late?
"Hey Riley." Alex whispered, tiptoeing his way in. He shuddered at the sight of a cheesy picture of him when he was 5. It was him and clown smiling holding balloons.
"You finally came!" I exclaimed. "So this is the topic of the meeting. Peyton."
"Peyton?" a very puzzled Alex asked.
"Yup." I confirmed, "what are your thoughts on her? Who is she really behind that care-free yet cautious wall?"
He considered it for a bit, as I did likewise.
"Ready? On 3 we reveal out deepest thoughts and suspicions." Alex nodded in agreement.
"Okay, 1...2...3!"
"She's running away from an evil stepmother!" Alex shouted.
"She's a famous person hiding from the disgruntled employes who want to kill her!" I yelled.
I could tell Alex didn't believe me. "Come on, it could be true. At least my theory isn't a spin-off of Cinderella."
"Anything could be true. That's why we should spy on her." He suggested.

Alex's POV:

I reached behind me and pulled out a paper from our secret stash we had smuggled away in case we needed it.
"Everything that we need to know will be written down onto this paper. Then when we have all the evidence we need, we can come to a simple conclusion of who she is and what she is doing." I announced proudly.
Riley was clearly unimpressed. "Wow." She flatly said.
"Hear me out," I unrolled the paper and smoothed it out. I took a seat down in front of it and pulled out a pen.
Riley rolled her eyes, but sat down anyway. That was progress.
"Alright, this is what we should do..."
And that is the end of part 3!
I hope you are enjoying this photo-story!
Have a great day,

Trying to Trust (Season 1, Part 2)

I'm currently typing this at 5:50 a.m. I stayed up till 1 in the morning writing, and instead of sleeping in, I set my alarm for 5:40 a.m.
So sorry if there are mistakes that I didn't catch. I'm only truly half awake.

Riley swung open the door and there was the unimaginable.

Trying to Trust, Season 1, Part 2

April's POV:

"Oh! You're here early!" I exclaimed, opening the door wider so she could walk in.
Alex's eyes bugged out when he saw Peyton. "Shut your mouth, you're catching flies and you look like an idiot." Riley backhanded.
"Hi guys," She said, "my name is Peyton and I'm your new sister."
"I'm Sarina," Sarina offered her hand. Peyton neglected it and looked right past her.
"I'm Riley and that mute guy over there is Alex." Riley smirked.
"Hey! I'm not mute!" Alex protested, standing up for himself.
"He speaks!" Riley said in mock surprise.
"And I'm April." I informed Peyton, "The head of the house."
"Or the wrangler of us 'evil' children." Riley quipped. Alex tittered in the background.
The newest addition made her way down the hall. "So, where's my room?"
Riley looked at Alex. Alex looked at Riley. They nodded in secret agreement.
"We could offer you a tour," Riley slyly offered.
"Nah. I would rather not." Peyton rudely shot down the offer and stalked down the hallway.

Peyton's POV:

I sat down at the table silently listening to the others' conversations. Riley and Alex were debating whether Tim Hortens should carry a line of ice cream and blizzards. Sarina was telling April about a book she was writing about a runaway spy.
Riley finally noticed that I had sat down and started peppering me with questions. This was the monologue of the conversation.
Her: "Where did you live?"
Me: "Vancouver."
Her: "What are your hobbies?"
Me: "Sports."
"Why were you in the orphanage?"
The mac and cheese clattered to the table, sending noodles skittering away.
"I'd rather not answer that." I coldly notified her.
Everyone was silent and looked at me. Dinner was quiet for the rest of the time while everyone thought the same thing. I knew no one was brave enough to ask again. And I crossed my fingers no one would dig deeper and expose the skeletons in my closet.
And that is the epic end of Part 2!
Stay tuned for the next part posted on Saturday, May 5.

Trying To Trust (Season 1, Part 1)

The long-awaited post had finally arrived!!!

As much as I want to talk about the excitement coursing through my veins, you didn't click on this to read about that.
Without further ado, I present to photo-story that I've been working on for 3 months, the thousands of pictures taken, and the late nights spent editing.

Trying to Trust, Season 1, Part 1

Riley's POV:

I watched as my family gave Lexi their last goodbyes. She was heading off to college after the much too short winter break.

"Bye everyone! I'll miss you!" Lexi waved before heading towards the taxi.

I gave her one last wave. I wasn't going to see her for another 2 and half months. It seemed like forever when you're stuck in a little town like us.

"Alex, Sarina, Riley, I have something to tell when we get back inside." April informed us all.

Alex and I looked at each. Competition flashed in his eyes.
"Race you!" we chorused and dashed towards the front door.

Alex's POV:

Finally April finished putting the last Band-aid on Riley's knee.

"I should've been more careful," Riley said, sliding over on the conch so Sarina could sit beside her.
"
Can you just tell us already?" I asked impatiently. I took a seat on the floor, just in case she got all serious. Maybe we were moving? Or April got a raise?! Or she lost her job?
Finally April opened her mouth to spit out the news when...

The phone rang!

"No! Don't answer it!" Riley cried out waving her arms around in the air like a migrating duck.

April laughed that annoying cackle as Sarina picked up the phone. "Guess you have to wait."

What seemed like agonizing hours, but was really a few short minutes later, Sarina hung up.
"Who was..."
"Telemarketer," Sarina answered my half unspoken question.

April opened her mouth a second time, when all of a sudden the doorbell rang.

A split second later, Riley and I were running to the door.

"Got it!" She triumphantly smiled. "I even had a leg injury slowing me down."
"Whatever. That was fluke." I grumbled.

Riley swung open the door and there was the unimaginable.

Sorry it was posted later!
Stay tuned for Part 2!
